Peng Zhou’s art is deeply rooted in the philosophical concepts of relativity, changes, and harmony found in both Chinese and Western art history. His creative process involves capturing and developing fleeting ideas that enter his mind, resulting in works that exist between abstraction and semi-abstraction, stillness and movement. They are silent visions existing as mini-exhibitions in and of themselves, inviting bridges and leaps in our imagination.
“As a curator/collaborator with Peng, I am aware of the inherent limitations of using language to explain visual art. Peng himself questions how an artwork should be adequately explained. In his words, ‘Can a few paragraphs of eloquent writing, well-described inspirations, or a professional presentation truly convey the artist's concepts and thoughts to the viewer?’ According to Peng, it is unlikely.” - Ariel Baron-Robbins and Peng Zhou
“..whereof one cannot speak thereof one must be silent.” - Ludwig Wittgenstein: Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus
