DRIFT, AN INDEPENDENT CURATORS SPACE :: REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
Tempus Projects, with support from the Carey Family Foundation and Dashboard, is requesting proposals for Drift, an independent curators’ space opening in the Kress Annex Building on 7th Avenue in Ybor City.
Launching in fall 2022, the Kress Annex 2nd Floor will house Drift alongside five independent arts spaces, including Tempus Volta (our new satellite project gallery), three other grassroots Tampa galleries, and a micro-cinema. This coalition will form a substantial arts hub in the heart of the Ybor City Historic District. Located on the bustling main drag of 7th Avenue, this location offers an exceptional opportunity to engage with the public and to center the arts as Tampa continues its booming growth. There is no single space dedicated to independent curation in the region—Drift seeks to change that by providing an opportunity for such voices to be heard.
Tempus Projects seeks exhibition proposals from independent curators to connect innovative curatorial vision, diverse local and national artists, and the Tampa Bay community. Priority will be given to emerging and underrepresented curators who propose exhibitions with a diverse range of artistic voices. We are seeking engaging exhibitions that spark dialogue, inquiry, and social change, and we encourage exploration and risk-taking. Local and regional curators are encouraged to apply, and national proposals will also be considered. Curatorial teams are welcome to apply.
DATES + DEADLINES:
Monday, October 31, 2022 :: Deadline to submit proposals
Thursday, November 10, 2022 :: Acceptance notifications
Exhibition dates will run from December 2022 to May 2023
