Tampa, FL - Artist-run, nonprofit gallery Tempus Projects is proud to present ‘STICKS OF FIRE: Tertium Sunistra’, an exhibition featuring submissions from our annual open call with guest juror Eileen Goldenberg. ‘STICKS OF FIRE’ is a multi-media, juried art exhibition focusing on the theme of the sinister side of the Sunshine State. The word ‘sunistra’ is a portmanteau of "sunshine" and the Latin word "sinistra" and reflects the often idyllic/nightmarish dichotomy Florida embodies in its natural, social and political climates. Its third iteration is rooted in a Tampa epithet as the ‘lightning capital of the world’.

Florida’s long standing history of backwards politics and current state of high-ranking COVID-19 cases manifests its unruly character. The works in this exhibition were selected on their ability to capture the breathtaking essence of Florida as a fear-inducing phenomenon, represent the ethos of unpredictable rhythm, luminous danger, and ephemeral otherworldly essence.

Artists included in this exhibition are Jenny Carey, Will Douglas, Emily Heffernan, Eric Ondina, Selina Roman, Leah Sandler, Xina Scuderi, Suzanne Williamson, and Alex Zak

This exhibition will open on Friday, November 27th, 2020. ‘STICKS OF FIRE’ can be viewed in person at LiveWork Studios by appointment only. Text your appointment request to (813)-340-9056. We will do our very best to accommodate your schedule. Appointments can be made for up to 4 people at a time for 30 minutes. Masks required. Social distancing enforced.

Tampa, Florida 33604. ‘STICKS OF FIRE’ will be published on our instagram account at @tempus-projects on Friday, November 27th, 2020 at 6pm for virtual viewing. We are currently housed at LVWRK Studios Showroom while we await the grand opening of our new space, currently under construction.

All works are for sale. Proceeds from this event will be applied to our newest fundraising goal for 2020, to develop a paid full-time director position for Tempus Projects, for which The Gobioff Foundation has pledged $30,000 in matching funds.
